Digital cleanup campaig is an Erasmus+ project. Partners in this project are Norway, Slovenia, Croatia and Tenerife. 

The project aims to raise awareness about the negative impact of digitalization and media consumption on the environment and climate. 

The objective is to promote more sustainable digital practices through research, education, and advocacy campaigns. By doing so, the project hopes to encourage environmentally friendly use of digital technologies, raise awareness about energy consumption and e-waste, and promote a culture of sustainability.

Security concerns in cloud computing typically revolve around data breaches, compliance issues, data loss, unauthorized access, and shared infrastructure vulnerabilities. Additionally, users can implement their own security protocols and practices to enhance protection.

Energy Consumption: Cloud storage facilities require vast amounts of energy to power and cool the servers that store and manage data. This energy consumption contributes to carbon emissions and environmental pollution, particularly if the energy sources used are not renewable. However, large cloud providers have been investing in renewable energy sources to mitigate this impact.

Data Center Footprint: Data centers that host cloud storage infrastructure require physical space, which can lead to habitat destruction, deforestation, or land use changes if not managed sustainably. Additionally, the construction and maintenance of data centers may have environmental consequences, such as water consumption and waste generation.

  2. E-Waste Generation: As cloud storage infrastructure evolves and becomes more efficient, older hardware may become obsolete and require disposal. This can contribute to electronic waste (e-waste) if not properly recycled or disposed of, posing environmental and health risks due to hazardous materials.
